WORK HARD OR WORK SMART?
CONVENIENCE at a CHEAPER price…MORE WORK in LESS TIME…These are some of the wishes in our day-to-day walks of life. Be it the CEO of a prestigious company, the regular street vendor or the house maker, getting most out of the available resources is what we live and also strive for, but mostly struggle to achieve. This is what we explored with Mahacharya ji in one of his morning sessions.
A very simple yet a crucial question were asked by one of the learners in the session, "Why the struggle?"
The annoying traffic jam and the struggle to reach on time, the stressful nine to five job and the struggle for growth, the long hours of fidgeting with words and the struggle to come up with the right expression, and so on. Mahacharya ji states that the failure is due to lack of proper planning and execution and many unmatched paces resulting in wasted times and resources. Most of us get carried away in what can be termed as “immediate satisfactions” and forget about the bigger picture and our role in it. We are lost in tending to our trivial day to day needs, caught and messed up in the instancy and celerity of the hour, and thus, we lose sight of what lies ahead, of the ultimate goal.
"Matching our pace with the change and walking on the right path to make proper use of the conveniences is very important, an opposite of which results in wasted time and lagging which can be fairly used in acquiring guna and doing the right work."
-Mahacharya shri sourabh J sarkar
Mahacharya ji asserts that making the most of the available resources is not unachievable, nor is convenience at reasonable price. The conveniences are out there. All we need to do is make right use of them. But the only fact is that no one is showing us the right way. The fundamental requirement is "planning, structure and shared responsibility."
"Lack of proper planning and structure, and undivided responsibility can hinder growth and development."
-Mahacharya shri sourabh J sarkar
But what can be concluded from this is that nothing in the world comes for free. For a gratifying result of the issue stated above, we do need to pay a price- the price of planning and discipline which, at the very core, requires focus and attention. According to Mahacharya ji, the only convenient thing in the world that doesn’t cost us anything is breathing or Life, and thus, we should make good use of it so long we have it with us. Mahacharya ji also recommends that breathing exercises can improve focus and attention. He believes that the time from birth to death is life. A fulfilling use of that time is important, and that time should be engaged in saadhana and learning.
"If we were given another life, what should we do? We should concentrate and engage ourselves in saadhana…to focus our attention and LEARN."
-Mahacharya shri sourabh J sarkar
